Appointment of Women's Team Coach

24 Mar 2021 by Shane Cooper

Croydon Ranges welcomes Olivia Skillern as the Coach of the Women’s 1st team. Olivia has played hockey since childhood as a member of several local and regional teams, which included travelling into Melbourne to play with Casey Hockey Club.

As an adult, Olivia has played for Monash University Hockey Club, Waverley Hockey Club, and now plays for our Croydon Ranges. Olivia appreciates that taking on the mantle of Coach as well as playing this year will be demanding and welcomes the prospect of building on the team’s rich legacy and development under previous coach Mark Godfrey.

Olivia has previously coached several junior teams at Waverley Hockey Club and has been both an assistant coach and the head coach of Eastern Hotshots representative teams (Melbourne’s eastern suburbs) in Victorian Junior State Championships

Teamwork, comradery, skill development, and enjoyment of all aspects of the game are Olivia’s focus for 2021. I asked Olivia what she was most looking forward to this year and she replied, “The joy of playing hockey again and the new challenge of coaching our women’s side at Croydon; and especially playing and working with a group of great ladies”.

I wish Olivia and the ladies of our women’s section a most entertaining and successful year of Hockey in 2021.
