COVID-19 & Croydon Ranges Hockey Club

17 Mar 2020 by James Liggins

Dear All Members,

Due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19, there have been some changes that have been made to our training times & locations. This is also due to the closure of Yarra Valley Grammar.

Senior Training
Senior training will now take place from 6:30 pm – Last Light (7:30 pm), Thursday Nights at Yarra Hills Secondary School, Mooroolbark.

Junior Training
Stay tuned for a further update in the coming week from Karina Cove & Michael Hewlett.

Hookin2Hockey
Will continue as normal (same time & location)

The above is subject to change as the days progress, though we have been informed by Hockey Victoria and Sport and Recreation Victoria to continue on as normal. We certainly appreciate everyone’s understanding during this period and will ensure we keep everyone updated. To assist with that, I would recommend you follow the clubs TeamApp, Facebook and also Hockey Victoria/Hockey Australia social media pages.

From Hockey Victoria:
Please see below update relating to the upcoming season and how COVID-19 is being managed by Hockey Victoria.

Current Hockey Victoria Activities and 2020 Winter Season and JCC, SCC and JSC
In the past 24-48 hours, we have carefully considered the current status of COVID-19 pandemic in
Victoria, and the State Government’s directive on gatherings of over 500 people, which would
exclude the vast majority of community sport, and therefore community hockey.

Based on the current position of the Government and the relevant authorities, and given that none
of the planned activities exceed the 500 people mark in one venue, Hockey Victoria will proceed
with the planned activities until such time when the directive from the Government changes. At this
stage, we are still working towards delivering the 2020 Winter Competitions as planned, with
specific health & safety guidelines in place to be distributed in the coming days.

In the meantime, we are exploring different scenarios that can be implemented if and when this
directive changes, so we can work with all affiliates on adapting our implementation plans
accordingly.

These guidelines are a part of our broader considerations and include relevant Rules &
Regulations that may need to be amended or introduced to minimise the impact of COVID-19. For
example, rules in regards to the use of face masks.

We will continue to review the situation on a daily basis in line with the up to date information from
the State authorities and other relevant parties (i.e. Hockey Australia), and will provide further
updates on the HV activities as they become available.
